KEYMILE

Keymile Puts Xmp1-lcc Multiplexer With Extensive Cross-connect On The Market

Hanover, July 22, 2010 - The compact XMP1-LCC (Large Cross-Connect, 3HU) has impressive SDH cross-connect capacity from 64-kbps level, to STM-1/4/16, as well as high availability and flexible upgradeability. With its powerful cross connect the XMP1-LCC is ideal for usage as a Next-Generation multiplexer in dedicated and public telecommunications networks.

KEYMILE is one of the leading manufacturers of Next-Generation data transmission systems. By launching the XMP1-LCC, it is putting a Next-Generation multiplexer on the market that combines PDH/SDH and Ethernet technology. The system is particularly suitable for networks offering Ethernet services, but where the reliability of PDH/SDH technology is still required for transmitting mission-critical data. This is for example the case in the dedicated networks of utility companies, transport companies that run railways and public transport, and operators of waterways and motorways. Applications for safety and defence, as well as air traffic control, can be implemented with a high degree of availability. In mobile telephony network access, the XMP1-LCC is ideal for grooming and consolidating 64 kbps and 2 Mbps connections.

The XMP1-LCC's system architecture delivers simultaneous operation of Ethernet and TDM technology. This future-proof design enables seamless migration of TDM to Ethernet and guarantees long-term reduction of investment and operational expenses.

The XMP1-LCC enriches the XMP1 product family and flexibly houses the complete range of 2 Mbps, Ethernet and SDH interface cards in 10 slots. With its non-blocking cross-connect at 64k/2Mb/SDH level
(8064x64k/252xE1/48xSTM-1) and high interface density, it consolidates incoming PDH and Ethernet data. Two slots are designed for the central boards with SDH (STM-1/4/16) and eight for the interface boards. For Ethernet data, the XMP1-LCC offers fast Ethernet and GbE interfaces whereby data is transmitted with EoS functions (Ethernet over SDH) via the SDH network. Independently of one another, the Ethernet data can be transmitted in different EoS groups (VC groups).

To ensure the high level of availability of 99.9999% required in dedicated networks, the XMP1- LCC uses a number of redundancy mechanisms. Should a malfunction occur, switchovers are carried out in under 50 ms. Other functions that provide reliable data transmission are line-protection at SDH (MSP, SNCP) and E1 level and the 64 kbps channel protection, as well as decentralised power supply with redundant voltage feed, and full integration into the network management environment ServiceON XMP1 (SOX). As a result, end-to-end connections are easy to set up and monitor.

Thanks to the modular design and flexible licence model, the XMP1-LCC can be customised to keep initial costs low. If the requirement for interfaces and cross-connect capacities changes, the XMP1-LCC can be gradually extended.
The upgradeability to include layer 2 switching makes the system future proof. Furthermore, integration of more service interfaces for data and voice transmission is planned.

The XMP1-LCC can be ordered as of immediate effect.
